Ways to Choose Luxury Furniture for a Guest Bedroom

If you are one those who are always entertaining guests in your home, the guest room is probably as much used as the rest of your home. Ensuring that the ambience of your extra/guest bedroom reflects the same heartfelt invitation you are extending to your overnight guests is then a seminal consideration when designing the interior of your home.

The guest bedroom should be designed to make your guests feel welcome. Each single detail must be taken great care of, and as such, the furniture for the guest room shouldn’t be left out of the planning process. Make sure that you include all the essential furniture articles when planning the decor of the guest bedroom. And yet, even with keeping all the essential details in mind, you can always incorporate an element of grandeur in the room with some luxury furniture from Dubai that is designed to wow your guests.

The guest bedroom obviously needs a bed – a spiffy, comfy, clean bed where your guest can crash in. Choose from vintage fur posters to designer wrought iron beds with sturdy frames to give the guest bedroom high end interior design Dubai. If your guest bedroom also doubles as a lounge on ordinary days, you should try investing in a sofa bed. It is more practical and takes up lesser space, thus also making it ideal for use in case the guest room is small in size.

Aside from a comfortable bed and mattress, there are other furniture articles that need to be placed to give the optimum creature comforts to your guests in their home away from home. Dresser drawers, or a wardrobe for unpacked clothes, a bench or rack for the luggage, a couple of sleek and cosy chairs with a table for seating, and any other furniture you may deem necessary, or whatever the layout of the room allows, are placed to ensure that the guests don’t need to worry about making themselves at home.

For a selectioon of exclusive and luxury furniture in Dubai for your guest bedroom, you can walk into La Sorogeeka Dubai’s boutique on Boulevard Plaza. Ways to Install Hinges

Hinges are normally installed on doors, boxes, and kitchen cabinets to facilitate movement. The various types available can also help you determine the extent to which you want the door to open. Beautiful and innovative styles of hinges can also enhance your home decor to a great extent. Installing them is not a very complex procedure and can be easily done on your own.

Installing Door Hinges

Step 1
Before you start installing hinges on your door, you must decide which way your door will open, to determine their placement. Some of them work both ways as they are reversible, while some of them will have specific left or right markings on them.

Step 2
Normally hinges are installed at 5 inches from above the door frame and 10 inches from below it. You will need to mark these positions on the door frame where you will be installing them. Remove already present hinges in case you are replacing them.

Step 3
Place the hinge on its position and trace it’s outline on the door frame. Use a pencil or an erasable marker for this. Ensure that you trace the exact height and width of the hinge. As you will be attaching it to the door frame with screws, mark those places as well.

Step 4
Pick up a chisel and hammer to jab the marked outline area on the door frame. This will form a depression for you to install the hinge. Remove any wood splinters in this area to clear it for the hinge to fit in.

Step 5
Take the hinge, and with help of screws, fix it at its determined place. If it is done properly, you will notice that the hinge is level with the door frame and is fixed firmly in its position. Attach the other half in its position(following steps 2, 3 and 4), all the while referring your instruction manual, in case there are any particular directions you need to follow. Use a hinge pin to connect the two halves.

Installing Hinges on a Box

Step 1
Hold the wood box and lid in such a way that you can easily access all points in the box and lid. Keep the lid on the box in the way it would appear when the box is closed.

Step 2
Take your hinges and keep them on the box like you would want them to be installed. Their position should, ideally, be 4 inches from ends of the lid. Bear in mind, the top leaf of the hinge should be straight in line with the top of the lid. Make markings for screws with pencil through the top leaf holes on hinges.

Step 3
Keep the hinges aside and with the help of a drilling machine, drill holes at the screw markings you just made. The holes should not be bigger in diameter than the screws you are going to fit through them. Put the hinges back in position, insert screws through the holes, and tighten them with a screwdriver.

Step 4
For the bottom leaf of the hinge, make hole markings with a pencil. Remove the hinges, drill holes, fix the hinges, and tighten them with screws. You have successfully installed hinges on a box.

You should be able to perform the task, at the most, in an hour. However, if you want to install hinges which are a little more complex in structure, call for a carpenter to help you out.

Ways to Redecorate Your Room Instantly

No matter how much money, blood, sweat, and tears you put into making your home the perfect sanctuary, you will eventually find yourself walking around staring at walls with a pensive expression on your face along with color swatches and Restoration Hardware catalogs clutched in your sweaty little fist. You remember how satisfied, how happy you were when you karate-chopped the final throw pillow three years ago, but dang you’re tired of it already.

Your bank account will throw a fit if you start over completely―you haven’t even paid off the furniture yet―and the good folks at Visa are already giving you the side-eye as if they know what you’re thinking. But wait! You already have all this great stuff! Why not shop the house instead of the Internet to mix things up a bit? Given below are ideas that will get your aesthetic side all plummeted up for some serious redecoration around the house.
Ideas for an Instant Room Makeover

Place antique bird cages to instantly prep up your room’s light setup.

Place center tables beside a comfortable settee to be your coffee table.

Shift your settee from the bedroom to the living room for the perfect warmth.

Da Vinci says, “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” Taking a cue from it, keep pillows minim

It is functionality when you use your treasured trunk and wicker basket in your bedroom.

Use plants to give your room a breather―makes it fresh anyway.

Do up your living room by placing posters strategically on the stairway.

Use suitcases in your bedroom to store things away from view.

Use your artistic hand to create a simple wall mural in your room.

Use the shelves to store toys, books, and essentials in your room.
Reverse the Process
When you’re doing a total redecoration, the common modus operandi is to find a large thing you love―whether it’s a paint color, rug, couch, or whatever, and base the rest of the room around that. This time, you’re going to start small. You’re going to situate the tchotchkes and little things first, then go back and change the big stuff later if you have to. You probably won’t have to, but you may find yourself so inspired by your changes that you decide to go the whole hog. Whatever. This is about instant redecorating; we are not responsible for the sudden urge to rip up the carpet and install tray ceilings.
Start Small
Try rearranging the furniture that’s already there. Remove a piece or two if the room feels crowded. It’s amazing how different a room can feel when the sofa is moved from the west wall to the north wall. Switch your wall art around, too. If you have picture frames on every available horizontal surface, hang ’em up! Either scatter them in odd places or try a large grouping as a focal point. It’s okay if the frames don’t match; that’s totally a thing! Put away the throw blankets and maybe even remove a pillow or three from the couch. Take a step back and evaluate.
Shop the House
If you’re still not satisfied, take a walk through the house and gather up bits and pieces of other rooms. There’s no law that says that the green lamp in the bedroom must stay in the bedroom. Try it in the living room! Or that crystal bud vase you got as a wedding present that you never use; it would really class up the bathroom as a toothbrush holder. The idea is to look at the things you already own in a new way. Try to step outside the realm of every day, and look at your belongings as if you were at an estate sale. You may find yourself appreciating a new beauty in the most mundane things you haven’t even noticed in years.
Adjust the Lights
Lighting has a huge impact on the feel of a room. Put a lamp on a dimmer for a cozier feel, or switch to Reveal bulbs in a higher wattage to brighten up a room. The rule is to have three light sources: ambient, focal, and task. If the only lamp in the room is a torchiere, it’s probably pretty dim. Grab a small lamp from the home office, and put it on the opposite side of the room. On the other hand, there’s no reason to have megawatt lighting in the bedroom; a couple of wall sconces is all you need to set the mood for sleepy time or romance. If you do your makeup in the bedroom, keep a stick-on light in the drawer with your makeup, except don’t stick it; just pull it out when you need to be able to see.
See? Your whole house looks different now, doesn’t it? You may have even discovered that the “art deco” from the dining room looks really great in the bedroom, and the French Provincial from the kitchen should really be transplanted to the guest bathroom. So, maybe a project has begun after all. But at least now you’re inspired by your home, rather than bored with it.

Ways to Get Government Grants for Home Repair

Government grants in the United States offer a helping hand to needy citizens in various cases. Home repair grants are aids that are provided to homeowners in case their homes have been damaged due to some natural calamity, or in cases where they need funds for renovating the property. These grants are valuable for those individuals who don’t have large funds for repairing or improving their homes. Since these government grants are not required to be paid back, they can be used by citizens in times of need. The US Department of Housing and Urban development and FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) caters to various needs of homeowners for providing them with benefits of home improvement or home renovation grants.

Grants for Natural Disasters
In case your home has been damaged due to some natural disaster, then you can get a grant for repairing it. Since damage can be both on a small-scale or large-scale, the funds that you get will depend on the extent of damage. For getting grants in these cases, you have to contact FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency), which is one of the organizations that allocates funds for repairing homes damaged due to natural disasters.

Since March 2003, FEMA has become an integral part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and its mission is to protect and recover US citizens from natural disasters. You can either visit authorized branches of FEMA or contact them through their official website to obtain application forms for home repair grants. You can also read in detail regarding these grants on the official website of FEMA.

General Grants
For routine home repair tasks, like diagnosis of construction problems or renovation, the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) gives individuals some money. However, you need to satisfy the criteria that have been established by these organizations. HUD provides various facilities in every state, and for the comfort of citizens, they can be reached online. Application forms are available on the Internet. The government website for grants is also a place where one can find valuable information related to these aspects. These websites provide application forms, and one needs to fill them and wait for a response from the concerned authorities.

Beware of Fraud Individuals and Websites
Since all the government organizations have their own websites, there are various individuals who may try to allure you to their fake websites and promise you to give grants. One must be vigilant not to get trapped by such websites or individuals, and must only trust reliable resources. Consulting friends and people who are aware of such grants is the best thing, as they will give you authentic information. Doing a thorough research and visiting the offices and help centers of FEMA and HUD can be very helpful.

The entire process of application to really getting the financial assistance may take weeks. In some cases, the requests may be rejected. Since a large number of people apply for similar loans, you have to keep on trying. You must also ensure that you mention your problems and requirements properly, and give all details in the application forms. Incomplete forms are generally rejected, so ensure that you fill the forms carefully.
